He had seen it advertised in a magazine and had torn out the sheet and I'm sure knowing I would follow through. It was advertised new for $70 +. I went to Amazon.com and found it new for about half the price. He tends to love WWWII Japanese. I am assuming since he was interested it will have plenty on that subject for WWWII. I would not have a preview on this as far as content until after Christmas and his viewing. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "The War," by Ken Burns (21 December 2008)"The War" is a brilliant, moving, and informative documentary on America's participation in the second world war which should be seen by EVERY American. It will teach all those too young to remember the magnitude of the sacrifice made by many millions of Americans to preserve our freedom. And it will also illuminate the nature of war, disabusing viewers of the illusion that with sound leadership wars can be fought without strategic, tactical, and logistical errors that cost thousands of American lives, and without "atrocities" (e.g. the execution of prisoners) far worse than Abu Ghraib. Above all, it will remind us of how millions of ordinary, peace-loving Americans have proved capable of rising to extraordinary levels of heroism, determination, and endurance when their country's survival, and that of its principles, required. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The War: (21 December 2008)This was purchased for a gift so I cannot comment on its quality, but it was delivered quickly and arrived in perfect condition. |
