Customer Reviews:

  Awesome! (30 August 2010)
I just ordered this DVD. Though I feel like the set is a little overpriced, the show is truly worth it. As a fan of TV, film, and James Franco, many of my friends were dumbfounded that I had never seen Freaks & Geeks. I'd wanted to see it for a while, but just kept forgetting or putting it off for later. Recently, the IFC channel (on cable) has been playing episodes and I was lucky enough to catch about 7 of them.

This show reminds me of My So-Called Life and That 70's Show combined. It takes place in 1980 and has all of the cultural references that you would expect (That 70's Show), but doesn't come off as contrived or cheesy (My So-Called Life). It is witty, sincere, dramatic and downright real. I think that everyone (young and old) can relate to the things these teens are going through. Much like My So-Called Life, this show deserved a longer run. I wish that it didn't end at episode 18, but what can you do? Enjoy it while it lasts. :-)

Nice discussion starter for youth (06 August 2010)
We use this for HS youth video nights. Good topics for discussion. Generally suitable (should be previewed episode by episode).

best short lived television drama (05 August 2010)
this is the best show in the world. After I finished episode 18, i felt sad because I had grown so attached to the characters through six discs. I don't understand why this show was cancelled at all. 5 Stars!

  excellent (12 July 2010)
a show that stands the test of time and bonus features that make it worth buying the box set. great product :)

Quite possibly the best TV series ever (11 July 2010)
Freaks and Geeks is hilarious and the emotions are real. The dialogue is expertly written and the comic timing is impecable. This is also probably the most well cast show ever. The actors fit the characters perfectly, and this is due in large part, to the creators caring more about finding talented young actors than finding teen heart throbs.

Freaks and Geeks has some of the best music sequences of any show or movie for that matter. There are such beautiful emotional moments like "Tearing me apart" playing while Sam takes a lonely walk after a rough day at school, or "No Language in our Lungs" playing while Bill is waiting to be picked in gym class.

The DVD will satisfy even the most die hard fans. The extra features include auditions, cut scenes, and commentary by writers, directors, and the cast.
